What is Seborrheic Keratosis

Seborrheic Keratosis, also known as Senile warts are a benign skin growth that originates in epidermis. Looking like liver spots, seborrheic keratoses are seen more in older people hence their Senile Warts nick name.

They manifest themselves in colours from light tan to black. They can be oval or round and they feel flat or very slightly raised. They are generally no larger than about 1 inch. They can resemble and are often referred to as keratosis warts or seborrheic warts, though they have no viral origins.

Because seborrheic keratosis warts appear in the top layers of the epidermis/skin, seborrheic keratoses are often described as looking like they are painted on to the skin. “seborrheic warts”.

What Causes Seborrheic Keratosis Warts?

As advanced as medical science is, it is still not certain what causes Seborrheic Keratosis, however because they appear on the arms, back face and neck excessive sun exposure could be to blame, so “wear sun screen…”

Also there is a theory that physiological stress has the potential to worsen Seborrheic Keratosis.

  1. Christine Hall says:

I have recently bought the Syrinx Za cleansing bar and balm to help eradicate my seborrhoeic Keratoses.

I was told by the doctor that they do not remove warts and that there is no cure for this. I did not believe the doctor and with the help of my daughter we discovered the Syrinx Za range and I have been using the soap and balm for a week and my skin is smoother and less itchy.

I had these ugly growths in my hair and face and back and I was embarrassed to go swimming as they looked very unsightly. I am very happy to persist in this treatment and hope that it will finally remove these ugly growths. Syrinx ZA has given me hope.

  2. Hi Christine,

I read your article with great interest. You are right: doctors do not offer cures for seborrhoeic keratosis and it would be presumptuous of us to say that we could cure you completely with our products. However the evidence is that people with this condition find that it is greatly helped and the symptoms significantly alleviated. The products you have chosen are correct in my estimation and you may be able to enhance the effect by using tepid water that has been previously boiled. This reduces the amount of dissolved salts that can irritate your condition and reduced water temperature reduces the flow of sebum.. The therapy bar has an anti-pruritic function which reduces itchiness.
Our hair care range is specifically designed for those with scalp issues and I should like to recommend that you try them for the growths in your hair.

    Best wishes

  3. Consuelo Roberts says:

I went to Dermatologist for seborrheic keratosis and he used the treatment of the nitrogen on the two spots on my scalp. But that was just one treatment and it is still there if i rake across it with a comb it hurts and it itch as well. What can i do to get it to heal and go away. And i have lost hair in the these spots and it worries me. So, any information that is giving is more than helpful.

    Bless you

    Consuelo Roberts

    • Thank you for your message which has been passed onto me for comment.

The nitrogen treatment is quite fierce and the skin may take a while to heal.

The main thing is to keep the areas clean and protected. For this I recommend the deep cleansing therapy bar which you will find pleasant to use and for protection I suggest you try the Derma protector balm. This will keep the skin soft and hasten the healing process. Other functions such as hair restoration will happen once the skin is restored to good health.

Later on you could try the three stage hair care: pre-wash, shampoo and conditioner. All Products are designed to sooth and condition the scalp.

Let me know how you get on.

      Best wishes

      Rupert (the Syrinx team)
