Difference Between Eczema And Psoriasis

Psoriasis TreatmentMany people ask “What is the difference between eczema and psoriasis?”  as it’s quite difficult to tell one inflamed, itchy, patch of red skin from another.

It is tricky to tell these skin conditions apart, even dermatologists sometimes have trouble due to the fact they are both types of dermatitis and have one thing in common, inflammation of the skin.

Causes of Eczema and Psoriasis

Eczema is believed to be hereditary, an allergic reaction or linked to environmental factors. However, the true cause is not known.

Psoriasis is a life time condition that can be caused by a number of factors also such as stress, medications, and the weather.

Dry skin and Eczema/Psoriasis

The first thing to note is that not all patches of psoriasis are of dry skin, psoriasis skin consists of red, scaly patches of skin which is due to an over production of live cells that eventually causes scaling.

Eczema however often does include dry patches of cracked also itchy and painful skin. That may blister.

Is Age a Factor

Usually but not always eczema would appear from an early age, and more commonly psoriasis affects adults.

Natural Eczema and Psoriasis Treatments

There is no cure for either condition but both can be treated in a similar way using natural skin care treatment.

For both conditions, it is most important that you stay away from standard soap bars and liquid cleansers.  Not only is this soap very drying to the skin it contains chemicals and perfumes that will irate the skin.

We have a range of natural skin care products for skin conditions that can help eczema and psoriasis; all products contain Zander which is a nutrient rich mud  used by local people in Latvia and Ukraine for centuries. Zander gives the skins own immune system a huge boost allowing it to heal itself.

The Syrinx Za Therapy Bar contains no chemicals, perfume or other impurities, and will deep cleanse the skin and maintain the moisture; this helps the skin produce its own protective oil that other soaps actually can inhibit.

Psoriasis needs an emollient that will allow the skin to heal, reduce inflammation, adding moisture fast into the skin. This improves the skins appearance and keeps irritations away.

Eczema also needs this tender care from an emollient to soothe and moisturise the skin to ease the itching and to reduce chances of flare-ups.

So, it can be difficult to know the difference between eczema and psoriasis but its good to know that with care you can get both under control !
