Skin Allergies

A Skin allergy is a hypersensitivity disorder of the immune system. Allergic reactions occur when a person's immune system reacts to normally harmless substances found naturally in the environment and they manifest symptoms on the skin.

Treatment Hand Eczema

Before & After Photos: Natural Emollient Cream used to Treat Hand Eczema

“Im sensitive to almost everything. Ive been using the emollient for the last couple of months and it’s been brilliant for the dryness of my hands.
I switched from another leading brand to using Syrinxza. Im a hairdresser so my hands are constantly in water and dealing with chemicals. Thinking about going to work and trying to use my hands was awful. After using the emollient cream for a couple of months my hands are a lot better and dont get half as dry at work anymore. I can now enjoy my job again. 🙂
I used to itch it that much it would start to puss, but the emollient cream has completely taken the itch away and there is no more dry skin there! It’s made a massive difference. x” Melissa (Facebook Review)

Hand Eczema Treatment

Before & After Photos: Hand Eczema after using Syrinxza Natural Emollient Cream

“Ive been testing these products, the problem was very bad eczema all the way down my ear where it was breaking and very, very sore and on the verge of what i thought was infection. I was washing everyday with the Soap Therapy Bar, it is amazing how long it lasts, it is completely perfumeless and has a slight aroma of cleaness, not that horrible underlay of lanolin that some other products have.

On the ear i mainly used the Ultra Sensitive Derma Protective Balm which was a miracle product and i was delighted with it, it pretty much, after a months use 99% healed and its just new skin now, a little red but not sore and healing up, certainly no broken skin. Its smells delightful, not perfumed and smells beautifully of the natural oils that are in it, so very impressed with the balm.

The Emollient Cream i used for eczema on the eyelids and under the eye which was very sore, and at my age which is 60, with the older papery skin it would catch as you were putting your finger across, this cream smoothes and glides. You need such a tiny, tiny amount. It is amazing how long all these products have actually lasted using them everyday, twice a day. This again had a quick response in dealing with the problem.

I also used the balm in the furrow between the brows where eczema was also setting in and this kept it at bay and has been very good.

So all in all i want to say i have been very impressed with these products and i would use them again and i was surprised as i have used a lot of products and surprised how well they have worked and i would recommend them.” Caroline

“I have a 14 year old son who has had eczema all his life, its been on his arms, legs, elbows and it has really troubled him. It has kept him awake at night and been very sore and angry.

We have tried all sorts of products. Most of which haven’t really helped at all or made a tiny bit of difference. So we have been absolutely thrilled to find Syrinxza Derma Protector Balm, and it has made a huge difference to him. Most of the eczema has cleared up. Its just small patches left now. It has been very easy for him to apply, its easily absorbed, its non greasy and we are really pleased to have this natural, very helpful product that is making a difference to his life.”  Ali

“We have been putting the Syrinx emollient on my sons hands witch have always had eczema from very young, he is six and has tried the usual steroid cream without any lasting effect.
After a few days applying it his redness and rough dry skin has almost disappeared completely. A tad expensive but well worth it, great results!”

“I have had 3 great successes with Syrinx ZA products!

1. For 2 years I had a broken and crumbling big toe nail which would never grow to its full length. Six months ago I started rubbing the Syrinx ZA emollient cream on the cuticle/nail bed morning and night. The nail began to grow very fast, and for the last 2 months that nail is, finally, full grown and strong!
2. Recently I noticed I had an ‘old age stain’ on the skin by my eye. Then another patch appeared above it, then another below. For 2 weeks I used the Syrinx ZA therapy bar to wash my face with, and after rinsing, I made a paste with my finger from the dampened bar, rubbed it on the stains and left it overnight. The old age stains have completely gone.
3. My boss, who is very energetic but 81 and under a lot of stress, developed a very red face and bleeding from the skin on his nose. Just one wash and application of the paste made from the Syrinx ZA therapy bar and water calmed the redness and healed the broken bleeding skin. Now he is using it regularly.
I would strongly recommend this product.” Katie

Acnes Cleansing Soap

“I had been having trouble with acne for years, and found it impossible to get rid of. But a few days of Syrinx Za deep cleansing therapy soap was enough to make a noticeable effect, and it was only a little over a week of daily use before my skin was clear! I couldn’t have been happier.” Sam Clark

Extreme Psoriasis Relief

“About my boyfriend who has suffered with extreme Psoriasis for may years now.
Having heard about the Syrinx ZA range in a newspaper article my boyfriend was extremely sceptical to try yet another new product, especially after already having tried so many different creams/medications from the Skin Clinic and his GP in the past. However after reading other peoples testimonials on your products I persuaded him to give your soap bar and cream a try, although initially he did think they sounded too good to be true.
Within a few days though my boyfriend noticed an enormous difference in his skin. His skin was much less inflamed than before and was no-where near as itchy as it usually was, we both agreed it was hard to believe these effects were felt within days of first using the products.
The soap bar and cream helped reduce the irritation which in turn made his skin less flaky and more supple than it had felt in a long long time. We would both totally recommend your products to anyone suffering from Psoriasis. These products may cost more than some high street brands however the results speak for themselves.
Keep up the great work.”
T Penman, Kirkaldy, Fife, Scotland

Sceptical Whether the Soap Would Work

“I received my order of a deep cleaning therapy bar the day after I ordered it, very quick delivery.
As a retired qualified nurse I must admit I was a bit sceptical about whether the soap would work. I have two solar keratosis spots on my arms which were becoming unsightly and quite itchy.
After only using the soap for five days I can honestly report there is a definite improvement. The areas are not so red and the itching has stopped. I cannot believe they are also reducing in size.” Christine Thorne

Taken the place of the face wash I’ve used for the past twenty years
“The deep cleansing therapy bar has taken the place of the face wash I’ve used for the past twenty years as the first part of my shaving routine. It’s great, doesn’t dry your skin and prepares your face perfectly for shaving cream.
Not only that but my wife and teenage daughters have also taken to using it as part of their daily beauty regime. I can see I’m going to be needing to negotiate a bulk discount at this rate. Highly recommended.” Mike Turner

“Cream and soap very helpful with eczema, I have used both the soap and the cream and found them to be very helpful with eczema and other irritable skin conditions. I have also used it on my dog and on horses with very good effect.” Tim Cutting

Cream To Protect Skin From Chlorine Water

Do You Suffer From Dry Skin or Rashes From The Chlorine After Swimming?

Dry Skin From Chlorine After SwimmingDry itchy skin or even a rash after swimming can be a common complaint suffered by professional swimmers who spend a lot of time in chlorine. Leisure swimmers can also have dry skin or rashes from swimming if their skin is particularly sensitive or if they been in the chlorine for a long period of time.

Allergic reactions to swimming pool chlorinated water are quite common. The symptoms often resemble rashes or hives and for asthmatics in particular, can be serious. Sometimes the reaction is caused by having a higher dose of chlorine in the water. If you suffer breathing difficulties after swimming then consult your doctor.

We often have people asking if our products can help. The secret is to protect the affected areas and restrict the permeation of chlorinated water into the skin by applying the Derma Protector Balm (insoluble) into the affected areas before swimming and immediatley after the swim, shower in fresh water using the Deep Cleansing & Detoxifying Bar to make sure you remove the chlorinated water. Then protect the skin with more Derma Protector Balm, applied sparingly to the areas where the rash or dry skin flares up. Use the moisturising Skin Revitaliser Hydration Cream thereafter to restore the skin to its optimal condition.

Syrinxza products can help with dry skin and rashes from the effect of chlorine when swimming, we recommend:

Derma Protector Balm (immediatley before swimming and after shower)
Deep Cleansing & Detoxifying Bar (in shower immediately after swim)
Skin Revitaliser Hydration Cream (everyday until skin improved)

Allergic Reaction to Cats

Allergic reaction to catsAn allergic skin reaction is defined as being a chronic disease characterised by an overreaction of the immune system to things that we come into contact with. This is what happens when you have an allergic reaction to cats.

Allergic skin reactions are more common than you would think; almost 10% of people are allergic to household pets. and allergic Eczema affects up to 20% of children and up to 3% of adults.

What causes an allergic skin reaction?

It’s been in the news this week that chemicals found in everyday cosmetics and cleaning products are possibly one of the biggest causes for skin allergies and many metals are often an offender.  However, cat allergies are also very common; twice as common as dog allergies in fact.

Cat allergies

80% of skin reactions are caused by contact. When in contact with a cat or sometimes just by touching where a cat has been the skin can become red, inflamed, irritated and very itchy and might contain lumps and bumps that ooze.

An allergic reaction to cats is an immune reaction to animal skin flakes, saliva, and sometimes fur as it can trap allergens within the fur itself and can occur when the allergen comes into contact with the skin.  Children are often affected more than adults because:-

a) They cannot resist touching cute animals.

b) They don’t wash their hands as much as they should.

They touch the animal and then they touch their skin and soon after redness, and lumps appear. Although it’s not only the skin that can suffer; other symptoms are similar to a cold, such as wheezing, coughing and a blocked nose.

Coping with an allergic reaction to cats

If you have an allergic reaction to cats it is advised that you do not get yourself a little fluffy kitten, but if you already own one and can’t stand to give it up, there are some steps you can take.

  • Firstly try to limit the contact you have with the cat
  • Wash your hands often and especially after you have had contact with the cat or the area the cat sits.
  • Ban cats from the bedroom
  • Steam clean carpets often or replace with wood flooring.
  • Get someone to brush the cat outdoors
  • Follow a skin allergy treatment regime

Dealing with symptoms of an allergic skin reaction

Syrinx ZA has a range of products that contain Sapropel which has been tried and tested to reduce the symptoms of a skin allergy. Some people can just get away with using the Deep Cleanser Therapy Bar which deep cleans the skin to remove all traces of toxins. Others might need the added protection of the Allergic Skin Revitaliser to give a 24 hour protection to prevent and protect against the allergic reaction to cats.

Dog Allergy Symptoms

Dog Allergy SymptomsMan’s ultimate best friend – the dog. Families all around the world fully consider their canine pet as a treasured member of the family, often treating them with as much affection as they would their own children. The popularity of dogs means avoiding them isn’t always the easiest thing. In fact, as many as 40% of USA households own a dog.

So what do you do when you fear you’re suffering with Dog Allergy Symptoms?

How do I know if I’m allergic to dogs?

The symptoms of a dog allergy can vary but generally match up to those of other nasal allergies. They can include:

  • Coughing
  • Wheezing
  • Red, itchy eyes
  • Runny, stuffy nose
  • Sneezing
  • Itchy rash

These symptoms can be worsened by other factors including tobacco smoke, car fumes or any other surrounding allergens such as pollen.

Symptoms of a dog allergy can range in severity, so for some they may become more severe than others. For sensitive skin sufferers, something as small as a dog’s lick can make their skin break out almost instantly.

How can I treat my Dog Allergy Symptoms?

If you own a dog and suspect it may be the cause of your allergy symptoms, then you may want to put it to the test. Remove your dog from your home for a period of time and see if it makes a difference to your symptoms. If not, then you may need to start thinking about what else could be causing your symptoms.

If your symptoms do noticeably improve in the absence of your dog, or if you do not own a dog yourself yet suffer from an allergy to them, then it’s important you start to consider your treatment options. Always visit your local GP to confirm your allergy before taking any steps in treating it.

Maintaining a clean, hygienic household could help eliminate dog dander from your house and reduce your Dog Allergy Symptoms. Regularly wash your bedding, clothing and even furniture.

Syrinx Za’s Ultra-Sensitive Cream, Therapy Balm, Emollient, and Therapy Bar all contain Sapropel, a hydrating natural ingredient that has proven to effectively treat the effects a dog allergy may have on the skin.

Alternatively, you may find one product works better for you than the other as everyone’s skin is different, so try them out and see which works best for you. When suffering with a dog allergy, replacing the Ultra-Sensitive Cream or Therapy Balm with the Emollient may be more effective in reducing allergy symptoms. However some have found that just using the Deep Cleansing Therapy Bar is enough to ease their symptoms completely.

For best results, apply every morning and night – and during the day if patches flare up.

Itching From Allergies

Itching From AllergiesItching is perhaps the most commonly found symptom of an allergy. Sufferers of an allergy may find their skin becoming itchy after coming into contact with their allergen – whether this be a certain food, dust mites, pollen, central heating or even jewellery. Itching usually occurs on the outer skin such as on the arms or legs, but can also occur internally such as in the mouth or ears.

So, yes, we know that Itching From Allergies is a common occurrence, but why does it happen?

Why do allergies cause itching?

Now for the scientific part…

When an allergy sufferer is exposed to a substance they are allergic to, the body responds by producing vast amounts of antibodies. These antibodies then aim to locate any molecules of the allergen within the body’s bloodstream and remove them by transferring them to the body’s mast cells. This process causes histamine to be released into the body. When histamine is released in large amounts such as this it can cause some body tissue to become inflamed and, therefore, itchy.

What are the dangers of Itching From Allergies?

While it may be the instinctive response when we have an itch, excessive scratching can cause the skin to damage and break, even sometimes bleed.

When the skin is broken, an environment is provided where micro-organisms can flourish, meaning both bacterial and viral infections could occur.

If the skin is broken from scratching then the skin is vulnerable to a bacterium named Staphylococcus Aureus infecting the skin or catching contagious viral infections such as cold sores. Ouch!

How can I treat it?

Keeping your skin completely away from any potential allergens is, of course, ideal but unfortunately not always possible.

The best thing you can possibly do is try to keep Itching From Allergies under control. This means an effective, natural emollient should be applied on a daily basis to calm symptoms.

The Syrinx Za Emollient is a natural chemical-free emollient containing Zander and Argan Oil, ingredients that are able to work together to draw impurities from the skin and relieve inflammation and itchy skin. It uses the ancient healing powers of Sapropel and Argan to soothe and rehydrate the skin, while removing any toxins.

Common Skin Allergies

common skin allergiesA skin allergy is when the skin has an over-reaction to a particular substance, usually something that is harmless to a non-allergic individual. Skin conditions caused by allergies may result in problems such as eczema or psoriasis.

Generally speaking, skin allergy sufferers tend to have more than one particular allergy which means that, simple parts of day to day life can become a sensitive skin sufferer’s worst enemy.

Skin allergens are all around us – how much do you know about the most common culprits?

Top Seven Skin Allergies

Clothes
Rough materials such as wool can wreak havoc on sensitive skin and can be a major trigger for eczema.

Soap
Harsh, non-natural soaps can dry out sensitive skin and remove its natural oils, leading to dry, cracked or even bleeding skin. Using harsh shower gels can also present the same problem.

Cleaning Products
Cleaning products are, of course, not intended for the skin due to its high chemical content. However, skin can come into contact with these chemicals which can severely irritate sensitive skin and provoke allergic reactions. Wearing protective gloves when handling these substances is strongly recommended, particularly for sensitive skin sufferers.

Heat
Heat can aggravate the skin and cause an allergic reaction due to an increase in perspiration and the skin becoming dried out in high temperatures. Heat-induced eczema can cause wide-spread red spots, oozing, blistering, inflammation and itchiness. Ouch – watch out for those summer months!

Detergent
Detergents leave a residue in clothes every time they are washed; this residue can be anything left behind by the detergent, such as artificial fragrance agents. This not only provokes skin irritation but also cause clothes to stiffen, making clothes even more uncomfortable on sensitive skin. Perspiration against biological detergent can reactivate the chemical-filled residue and cause even further problems for skin conditions.

Perfumes and Deodorants
Allergic reactions to harsh perfumes and deodorants are very common so if you feel your skin may be at risk then seek alternative options.

Plants
Plants including ivy, lemon, lime, celery and some types of flowers contain an oil called ‘urushiol’ which can cause allergic reactions.

Creams
Creams that contain chemicals such as parabens and steroids work by sealing the skin and preventing natural moisture from leaving the skin, something that can damage and weaken the skin in the long run. It is always best to choose a natural cream or emollient to treat your skin and avoid any adverse side effects.

Our recommendations

Sometimes Common Skin Allergies are just unavoidable, but it’s never too late to start treating the symptoms so choosing effective, natural skincare is absolutely vital.

Our Ultra-Sensitive Cream, Therapy Balm, Emollient, and Therapy Bar all contain Sapropel, meaning you have a variety of products you can choose from to reap the benefits of the ingredient.

You could even combine the products to get the best results Sapropel has to offer. You could start by gently washing with the Deep Cleansing Therapy Bar and, after, applying the Ultra-Sensitive Therapy Cream or Balm, using the fingertips to work the product into the affected areas gently but firmly.

Alternatively, you may find one product works better for you than the other as everyone’s skin is different, so try them out and see which works best for you. If you suffer from skin allergies then replacing the Ultra-Sensitive Cream or Therapy Balm with the Emollient may be more effective in reducing allergy symptoms.

For best results, apply every morning and night – and during the day if patches flare up.

Image of Soap for Allergic SkinWhat is allergic skin?
Allergic skin comes up in a red rash, blisters or weals that feel itchy or burning. Often, it’s the arms, legs, neck or chest that are most affected.

Here is an example of how Mick Say uses Syrinx Za Products to treat his skin allergy to Dogs and extremes in environmental conditions.

What causes allergic skin?

The most common causes for allergic skin are plants such as poison ivy, as well as harsh soaps and chemical detergents. However, some skin allergies can be triggered by central heating, wet weather, fumes, dairy products, dust mites, and nickel as used in watches and jewellery.

Who gets allergic skin?

Anyone can get a skin allergy at any time, especially those who already have dry or sensitive skin.

What are the symptoms of allergic skin?

Symptoms include:

  • Contact dermatitis with large burning itchy patches that take days to fade. There are three types:
    * irritant (results from exposure to irritants)
    * allergic (results from exposure to allergens)
    * phototoxic (either of the above, activated by sunlight)
  • Urticaria (known as ‘hives’ in the US) where a bumpy rash appears and fades in minutes or hours
Can allergic skin be cured?

As well as using natural products to protect and heal allergic skin, there are various things you can do:

  • Have an allergy test to identify the irritant
  • Do what you can to avoid the irritant
  • Use a mild or pH neutral soap
  • Turn down the radiators
  • Vacuum carpets and upholstery frequently
  • Change bedding often
  • Only wear precious metals
  • Cut out dairy products
Can allergic skin be treated?

Here’s some common advice for allergic skin treatments:

  • Immediately wash with water and apply lemon juice or vinegar
  • Apply calomine lotion or take antihistamine, hydrocortisone or zinc
  • Use an emollient (although some creams make allergic skin worse, by sealing toxins and chemicals into the skin)

On the other hand, you can try our alternative treatment for allergic skin – it’s 100% natural and clinically proven to be non-irritant.
