Cream To Protect Skin From Chlorine Water

Do You Suffer From Dry Skin or Rashes From The Chlorine After Swimming?

Dry Skin From Chlorine After SwimmingDry itchy skin or even a rash after swimming can be a common complaint suffered by professional swimmers who spend a lot of time in chlorine. Leisure swimmers can also have dry skin or rashes from swimming if their skin is particularly sensitive or if they been in the chlorine for a long period of time.

Allergic reactions to swimming pool chlorinated water are quite common. The symptoms often resemble rashes or hives and for asthmatics in particular, can be serious. Sometimes the reaction is caused by having a higher dose of chlorine in the water. If you suffer breathing difficulties after swimming then consult your doctor.

We often have people asking if our products can help. The secret is to protect the affected areas and restrict the permeation of chlorinated water into the skin by applying the Derma Protector Balm (insoluble) into the affected areas before swimming and immediatley after the swim, shower in fresh water using the Deep Cleansing & Detoxifying Bar to make sure you remove the chlorinated water. Then protect the skin with more Derma Protector Balm, applied sparingly to the areas where the rash or dry skin flares up. Use the moisturising Skin Revitaliser Hydration Cream thereafter to restore the skin to its optimal condition.

Syrinxza products can help with dry skin and rashes from the effect of chlorine when swimming, we recommend:

Derma Protector Balm (immediatley before swimming and after shower)
Deep Cleansing & Detoxifying Bar (in shower immediately after swim)
Skin Revitaliser Hydration Cream (everyday until skin improved)

Zander, argon, soya and olive oils all have properties to help bring this about. They are complemented by vitamin E (tocopherol) and lanolin.

It’s great for tinted hair and for long hair that needs careful treatment. Again Zander is used, along with argon oil from Morocco and wheat amino acids to massage and deep-clean. Finally the Syrinx Za conditioner is applied. Along with Zander and argon oil, it contains olive oil to condition and protect your hair and scalp. Zander hair care is very suitable for people who have problem hair and scalp. However it can be enjoyed by literally everyone. What Causes Dry Skin

Image depicting dry skin on the faceWe can all suffer from dry skin from time to time, its just one of those things we have to put up with, or is it? If we know what causes dry skin maybe we can try to avoid it. Our skin is our largest organ – about 2 square meters covers your body so you can imagine all the work it has to do. The skin has an important job of protecting what is inside your body, which is why sometimes it has a tough time on the outside. [social_share/]

What Causes Dry Skin?

Our skin is made up of many different layers and it’s the epidermis which is the thin outer layer that gives us our pigments and creates new skin cells.  When this thin layer of skin is under attack by elements and other things that does not make it feel good, that’s when we can get dry skin or other skin problems.

The Weather

The weather can have a huge impact on our skin, when its cold people suffer from dry cracked skin because of the changes in humidity and the harsh wind or temperature.  When it’s hot our skin sweats and sometimes that can cause skin to break out in rashes.

Hot Baths

Although we all like a long hot soak in the tub as it relaxes us, our skin does not like it, it drys out your skin robbing it of its natural oils that protect it.

Age

Of course we know that our age can affect our skin, such as we discussed previously times that hormones are changing can make our skin dry and itchy.  Aging sadly will also be a factor of dry skin, theirs is no getting around the fact that we will all (hopefully) eventually have wrinkles.

Soaps and cleansers

Most soaps or cleansers can be very harmful to the skin causing dry skin and or causing flare-ups to other skin conditions such as eczema. This is because not only do that include harsh chemicals and fragrances but also because they lack glycerine, glycerine is a moisture rich ingredient that is actually removed from soaps because it can ruin machinery. Syrinx ZA ‘s natural skin care products can assist you in all of these areas

And our best seller which is the Deep Cleaner Therapy Bar – is a natural substitute for chemical based soaps which deeply cleanses and mositurises the skin, instead of drying it out like other soaps.  The Therapy is amazing for dry skin and you should notice a difference straight away.

Menopause and Skin

menopause and skinWe know how the menopause affects us in most ways such as hot flushes, weight gain, mood changes, anxiety and insomnia but what we don’t sometimes realise what happens with the menopause and skin.

Due to the decrease in estrogen or oestrogen (American and English spellings) there are many menopausal skin changes and for most people this can mean dehydrated, dry and sometimes itchy skin. Great, as if we don’t have enough problems at this time.

Menopause and Skin

So we know that lack of estrogen can cause dry skin but then there are other changes to other hormones that are also affecting us, including the slowing down of oil production, sending our skin into a spin, trying to rectify this, So, all this confusion due to the hormones can cause spots, thinning of the skin and dry skin as we’ve discussed but also wrinkles or aging of the skin.

Menopause and Age Spots

Estrogen controls our melanin production so as the estrogen starts to decrease we can find ourselves with brown age spots, most commonly found on the hands but also on the face, neck and arms.

How to Help Your Skin During Menopause

We all love steaming hot baths but it really does dry out your skin so that isn’t going to  help right now, what you need is a warm bath, and avoid harsh soaps and shampoos that contain chemicals and fragrances as they are harmful to your skin especially at this sensitive time.

Deep Cleanser

The Deep Cleanser Therapy Bar is a fantastic soap replacement but its not only that; its natural,  doesn’t contain any chemicals, parabens or fragrances, and is highly moisturising, so you get the best of both worlds. The Therapy Bar has been especially formulated for sensitive skin and is also used for treatment of eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, and cracked skin so you can be sure that it will treat your skin with the gentle care that it needs.

Rubbing the rich lather from the Therapy Bar into age spots and leaving it on them overnight can great reduce the appearance of these brown marks.

Keep Moisturising

It’s also time to start remembering to moisturise your skin everyday – especially after bathing.  You need something hydrating and moisturising and this is why we recommend the Dry Skin Revitaliser and Moisturiser, as it is highly moisturising and it softens and re-hydrates dry skin.  This give the skin the boost it needs to reduce the symptoms of dry skin whist keeping the skin supple and healthy.

After bathing just pat yourself dry, do not rub – then apply the Skin Revitaliser, re apply once a day for 24hour protection against menopause and skin.

Dry Skin on Elbows

Dry Skin on ElbowsIf you sit at a desk in front of a computer for any length of time you may find yourself suffering from dark, rough, dry skin on elbows. We find that office workers or students often complain of this problem.

This skin can become hard, dry, cracked and inflamed if not taken care of, can be very sore especially when you bend your arms. All that is required is a natural skincare routine that includes your elbows.

Causes for Dry Skin on Elbows

There are many other reasons that you can get hard dry skin on the elbows but if it is the result of working at a desk, you will usually find that it occurs on your left elbow, as your right hand is busy with the mouse your left elbow is usually resting on the desk. It’s the constant friction on the skin that is causing the hard skin, which just worsens over time – the best thing to do is to avoid resting on your elbows but we know, its a habit.

Other reasons can of course the weather, using harsh soaps, dry air, or more serious skin conditions such eczema, dermatitis or psoriasis which can be exacerbated by the previous reasons but in all cases treatable.

Do not pick or scrub dry skin on elbows

If your elbows are hard, dry and cracked, it’s very tempting to pick at the skin, or to pull off that small piece that does not seem attached. It is attached and it will hurt.  Do not pick or pull at the skin this as this can cause infection and will definitely make it much more painful.  Also scrubbing the skin, using a scrubbing brush or any harsh chemicals is not necessary; this can just cause inflammation and pain and not help at all.

Yes, you do want to remove the dead cells on the elbows but you want to do this gently and naturally with a fragrance, and chemical free moisturising soap.

Treatment for Dry Skin on Elbows

As always its best to keep your skin away from whatever is causing the problem but it’s a very difficult if you have a habit of resting on your elbow or to find out what could be causing the hard, dry skin.  An easy place to start is to stay away from chemical based products and to use more natural soaps and creams.

The Syrinx Za Deep Cleansing Therapy Bar is not only a substitute for chemical based soaps it is highly moisturising, has antiseptic qualities and detoxifying abilities. The therapy bar acts as an a natural exfoliant as it penetrates the skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth.

Treatment Regime for softer skin

In the evening – wash with the therapy bar, making a thick lather, rub this lather into your elbows- leave to dry and leave overnight.

In the morning – Wash off the lather, wash again with the soap rubbing it into the affected areas but this time rinse and apply the Syrinx Za Derma Protector.

The Derma Protector provides 24 hour hydration for your skin, and restores dry cracked skin.

Do this everyday for 7-10 days and you will start to notice a difference, but keep using the soap and the cream to keep dry skin on elbows at bay.

Dry Hands in Winter

dry hands in winterIt’s a common problem to suffer with dry hands in winter,  exposure to the harsh winter conditions, can take away the moisture and strip the skin of the natural oils that protect our hands. This can make your hands so dry that they can crack, peel and even bleed in some cases.

Its not only the cold air that can dry out our hands, its also our central heating and our constant washing of hands to protect ourselves from winter colds and flu.

What do to about Dry Hands in Winter?

Soaps

Normal soaps and detergents actually dry out our skin, so excessive washing using these soaps is very bad for our skin.

What is needed is a natural hand soap that contains no additives, chemicals or fragrances that will harm your skin, which will in turn moisturise the skin – such as the Deep Cleanser Therapy Bar. Using this natural handmade soap and not the chemical based soaps will be a great start to providing protection as a barrier for your dry hands in winter.

Start now as a prevention to dry hands in winter.  Some people, including myself (I don’t use anything else anymore) even find that using the therapy bar is all we need to keep soft hands in colder months but others need more than that.

Hand Cream

When our hands are dry the first thing we usually reach for is the Hand Cream or Moisturiser but what most people do not realise is that certain types of hand creams do not seal moisture into the skin, all they do is add moisture.

We all know that lovely feeling when you first rub in the silky deliciously perfumed hand cream and then around 30 minutes later, yes they smell lovely but they feel exactly the same as they did before; Dry. That’s exactly what I mean; these types of hand creams are not retaining the water in our hands, so it’s doing no good at all.

Emollient

The best hand cream you can ever use is an emollient, emollients seal in water which is essential for dry skin especially during the winter months. The Syrinx Za Skin Revitaliser is a deep hydrating emollient which will moisturise and hydrate dry skin and even restore damaged skin.  It is easily absorbed in to the skin and provides a 24 hour protections and boosts the skins immune system allowing it again to protect your skin naturally.

Its time to go natural

It’s very important to watch out for harmful chemicals, fragrances and parabens that we are applying to our skin as these irritate and even cause the dry skin that we are struggling to get rid of.

As with all of our products our Deep Cleanser Therapy Bar and Skin Revitaliser are completely natural, chemical free, paraben free and full of nutrients and vitamins. The key ingredients are our breakthrough ingredient sapropel, argan oil, almond oil, coconut oil and cere alba, all of which will help banish dry hands in winter.

For more information on our ingredients please see our product ingredient page.

Winter Dry Skin Prevention

winter dry skinIt seems that summer has gone and that winter is now fast approaching us. Skincare has never been so important.

Autumn is the best time to start preventing winter dry skin; before that that cold winter weather that wreaks havoc with our skin, causing dryness, flakiness and itching.

Preventing Winter Dry skin

We all love to have healthy glowing skin which is tricky enough with that summer sun drying out our skin. Now we have winter sneaking up on us, promising to strip our skin dry of moisture but if we act now with some preventative measures we might not have to deal with that nasty, sore, flaky, dry skin.

These will also help with winter eczema and psoriasis or similar skin issues.

A Healthy Balanced Diet

First things first is to have a healthy balanced diet that includes plenty of fruit and vegetables and to drink lots of water to prevent dehydration, we should do this all year round not just in winter.

Dry Skin and Bathing

It’s best to avoid long hot baths or showers as this will strip our skin of its valuable oils, instead have short warm showers or baths, this will also prevent dehydration of the skin.

Use a natural soap and shower gel without chemicals or fragrances. Harsh soaps can actually be the cause of dry skin. We recommend the Deep Cleanser Therapy Bar (we would say that – but its true) as a substitute for “normal” soaps, it’s designed to cleanse the skin whilst also deep moisturising it. It is gentle enough to be used on the face or all over the body.

This homemade “soap” really prepares your skin for anything, it’s packed full of vitamins and other ingredients that boosts the skins immunity and promotes cell regeneration. The Therapy Bar is also used as a treatment for eczema and psoriasis. If you have any stubborn patches of dry skin, leave some of the rich lather on the area overnight – this allows full benefits of the ingredients to soak in the skin and personally I find that those patches are gone in the morning.

Never scrub your skin with a harsh sponge or loofah. There is no need to do this, excessive scrubbing can in fact wear away the outermost skin bar causing skin dryness.

Always pat your skin dry after bathing, never rub.

Moisturise your skin with a natural moisturiser or the Syrinx Za Skin Revitaliser and Moisturiser while your skin is still slightly damp and warm to ensure it soaks in.

Dry Skin and Heating

Do not sit right in front of a heater, keep the temperature as low as you can to be comfortably warm and keep a window open if possible. Put on an extra jumper, your skin will thank you for it.

Now you have a few tips on preventing winter dry skin – keep it up from now and throughout the winter and your skin should be prepared and you should not suffer terribly from winter dry skin.

Makeup and Dry Skin

Makeup Removal without Makeup RemoverMakeup is a crucial aspect of day to day life for women all around the world. It can boost their confidence by making them feel more attractive and feminine. However, many may feel that there is an unfortunate correlation between Makeup and Dry Skin, making them feel even less confident than they were to begin with.

Understanding why makeup may be the cause of your dry skin and knowing the best way to treat it is of the utmost importance in preventing the problem. Trust me, you’d be surprised at what a difference it could make!

How can makeup cause dry skin?

So, we know that Makeup and Dry Skin are certainly not a good combination. Flaky, dry skin can make powder and foundation very difficult to apply and does not generally help you on the way to a flawless complexion.

Many makeup products contain parabens in a bid to keep it preserved and fresh for years. Great for shelf life, but terrible for dry skin. Parabens can strip your skin of the moisture and can cause dry skin problems to arise. Existing dry skin can become more sensitive thanks to parabens, meaning your skin not only becomes at risk of become even drier but also at developing other skin conditions and problems.

Many also believe that the most ‘gentle’ type of makeup is mineral makeup. So, it must be super hydrating and great for moisturising our skin, right? Wrong. The truth is that such mineral powders and foundations actually have absorbing properties as opposed to moisturising ones. Minerals such as Silica, Kaolin and Magnesium can absorb the skin’s natural oils and dry out skin, leaving it flaky, irritated and in desperate need of a bit of moisture.

How can it be avoided?

Now you hopefully understand a bit more about the problematic link between Makeup and Dry Skin, the next step is knowing how to tackle it. And luckily, it doesn’t mean you need to stop using makeup altogether.

Start to focus more on restoring the moisture that some makeup may remove from your skin. Opt for all-natural, paraben-free solutions at all times.

Wash your skin and remove makeup using the Syrinx Therapy Bar and lukewarm water, as opposed to normal soaps in hot water. This will gently moisturise your skin and detoxify your pores, leaving the skin happy and irritation free.

The Syrinx Za Hydrating Balm and Ultra-Sensitive Cream are both designed to rehydrate dry skin that has become damaged from harsh treatment, leaving it rehydrated and healthy. Everyone’s skin is different so why not try both to find which works best for you? Alternate between using the balm and the cream twice a day and see results in just two weeks.
