What are the common symptoms of psoriasis?

Here are the most common types of psoriasis:

  • If your skin has raised red patches with silvery white scales, that’s called ‘plaque psoriasis’ (this is the most common form)
  • If psoriasis covers large areas of the skin with pink spots or blotches, it may be ‘guttate psoriasis’
  • If the psoriasis affects your groin, folds of skin, armpits and the backs of your legs, it’s likely to be ‘inverse psoriasis’
  • If you experience white blisters surrounded by red skin that’s extremely itchy, you might have ‘pustular psoriasis’
  • If you have widespread reddening of the skin, it’s probably ‘erythrodermic psoriasis’

What causes psoriasis?

Psoriasis is caused when skin cells mature too quickly. The process should take around 28 days, but in people with psoriasis, it can take only three or four days. That means the new cells arrive at the surface still surrounded by their intercellular glue.

Initial triggers for psoriasis appear to be related to stress, skin injury and streptococcal throat infection. The condition often flares up when the season changes.

Who gets psoriasis?

The cause is not known, but if one or both parents have psoriasis, it’s more likely that you will have it too. It’s important to note that psoriasis is not infectious; sharing this knowledge helps reassure people around you.

Can psoriasis be cured or treated?

In a survey, 71% of sufferers reported that psoriasis gave them a ‘significant’ problem’ in daily life, with 63% saying it made them feel self-consciousness and 58% experiencing embarrassment about it. Source: National Psoriasis Foundation 2008 as quoted on Wikipedia

With that in mind, it’s most unfortunate that there’s no cure. However, there is a treatment.

What is the best treatment for psoriasis?

Dry skin tends to erupt more often, so the best cure for psoriasis is to moisturise, moisturise, moisturise. We recommend the following 100% natural treatment that gives no risk of irritation.

Recommended psoriasis skin care regime:
1. Wash with our Deep Cleansing Therapy Bar every morning and night. Just let the lather absorb; don’t rinse it off.
2. Apply our Ultra Sensitive Therapy Cream after bathing or showering and at intervals throughout the day.

This treatment regime results in 24-hour hydration and noticeable results within two weeks. We urge you to give it a try and use the comments section below to let us know how you get on.

Warts | Q & A | Warts Treatment and Care

What are warts?
Warts are small, rough lumps, the same colour as the skin, that usually grow on the hands and feet but can be anywhere on the body. Some warts last for a few years; others last for a few months.

What are the different types of warts?

Here’s a quick guide to identifying the type of wart you may have:

  • If you have a firm growth with a raised surface on your hand, elbow or knee, that’ll be a ‘common wart’
  • If you see some small, smooth bumps in clusters on the hands, legs or face, those are ‘flat’ or ‘plane warts’ (most common in children)
  • If you notice small growths gathered on the back of the hand, they are ‘mosaic warts’
  • If you experience a hard painful lump on a pressure point of your foot, it’s most probably a ‘plantar wart’

Note that ‘true’ warts are not to be confused with keratosis warts, moles, verrucas (white ‘warts’ on the sole of your foot), or skin tags.

What causes warts?

Warts are spread by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). Don’t worry, it’s non-cancerous and no relation to HIV. You can catch warts if the virus enters your bloodstream though broken skin.

Can warts be cured or treated?

Warts are usually harmless but can be unsightly, so you may be looking for a cure.

What is the best cure for warts?

If you have a wart or warts, and are looking for a cure, there are many products available over the counter. Some of those contain chemicals and other ingredients which can irritate sensitive skin so we suggest you try our natural treatment for warts, which may take a little longer to get the job done, but with all natural ingredients they’ll leave the rest of your skin feeling deeply cleansed and refreshed.

Recommended skin care regime for warts

All our products are 100% natural and clinically proven to have no risk of an adverse reaction. Unlike chemical wart remedies, you can use this regime to treat facial warts as well as those on hands and feet:

1. Use our Deep Cleansing Therapy Bar every morning and night. The ingredients include Zander, which has the ability to ‘hook’ toxins out of your skin and feed the immune system. First, wash with the bar as you would with a normal soap. Then apply it again, rubbing the lather into the wart for at least 30 seconds. This time, just let the lather absorb; don’t rinse it off.

2. Moisturise with our Moisturising Therapy Balm to help replenish and protect the skin.

You should start to see results within only two weeks, however, we estimate it will take 4-8 weeks to completely remove a wart, depending on its size. Go on, give it a try! Then revisit this website to leave your feedback below…

Eczema | Q & A | Eczema Treatment and Care

What is eczema?
Eczema is a common skin condition that particularly affects the inner knees and elbows, face, neck and chest. Skin with eczema may be dry, red, thickened, cracked, itchy or even broken.

Caroline Le Brun suffered with eczema on her hands for over 40 years. She tried our regime, and said: “The skin…began to generate and heal before my very eyes! I am total convinced of its healing properties and will strongly recommend it to anyone with this problem.”

What are the common symptoms of eczema?

How to tell what type of eczema you have:

  • If your skin is dry or itchy in patches, it may be ‘atopic eczema’
  • If your eczema seems to be caused by detergents or cleaning products, that’s ‘irritant contact eczema’
  • If your eczema reacts to substances such as perfumes, hair dye or nickel, then it’s ‘allergic contact eczema’
  • If your eczema reacts to yeast and is focused around your scalp, nose and eyebrows, it’s likely to be ‘seborrhoeic eczema’
  • If you’re older and your eczema affects your lower legs and ankles, it’s called ‘varicose eczema’
  • If you get disc-shaped patches of eczema, it’s ‘discoid eczema’ (this type is less common in babies)

What causes eczema?

Eczema usually flares up as a reaction to something, such as contact with a certain fabric, chemical or other irritant. As with many conditions, stress, hormones and food intolerances also play a part.

Who gets eczema?

Eczema can affect adults, children and babies.

Can eczema be cured or treated?

As yet, sadly, there’s no cure for eczema. Science will find a way, hopefully in the near future, but until then we are here to help ease the discomfort of eczema.

What is the best cure for eczema?

As stated there is no cure for eczema yet, however eczema sufferers should avoid any treatment that contains chemicals, as that may cause the condition to flare up. Our eczema skin care regime is 100% natural, with no chemicals that may cause an adverse reaction. Read on for full details…

Recommended eczema skin care regime

1. Wash morning and night with our Deep Cleansing Therapy Bar. Don’t rinse off the lather, just let it soak in. (We suggest you use pre-boiled water if you live in a hard water area.)

2. Gently apply our Natural Natural Emollient Cream for Eczema

3. For extra protection outdoors, use our Moisturising Therapy Balm

Caroline Le Brun suffered with eczema on her hands for over 40 years. She tried our regime, and said: “The skin…began to generate and heal before my very eyes! I am total convinced of its healing properties and will strongly recommend it to anyone with this problem.”

Clinically Tested Natural Eczema Treatment

Behind the Syrinx Za brand is a mission to create a natural eczema treatment and a meaningful range of natural skincare products, offering a fresh approach to skin health.

Traditionally many emollients which are used in eczema treatments actually seal and lock heavy metals in to the skin; we have scientific evidence that shows that Zander which is our prime eczema treatment ingredients actually removes heavy metals and toxins from the skin leaving skin deeply cleansed and able to improve sensitive skin issues such as eczema.

All of our products undergo stringent independent clinical testing to show that they are suitable for all skin types and all ages. During recent tests on volunteers suffering from eczema and cracked skin issues we received positive results where 8 out of 10 people tested showed considerable improvement over a 14 day period.

Those improvements were particularly in the area of itchiness, redness and inflammation which calmed during the 14 day test period.

No Side-Effects

Because we only use natural ingredients there are no side-effects in our eczema treatment and we have the added benefit of two products for treating eczema which compliment each other perfectly.

The Deep Cleansing Therapy Bar for daily cleansing is great as a stand-alone eczema treatment because it is loaded with Zander and it deeply cleanses sensitive skin with no additives which could cause an Eczema flare-up.

The second product is the Natural Emollient Eczema Cream which is a clinically proven eczema treatment.

If you would like to try either of our eczema treatments during Natural Eczema Week you can use the 20% discount code ECZEMA2012.

Best soap for men: When is a bar of soap not a bar of soap?

Best Soap for MenWhen it’s a Deep Cleansing Therapy Bar!
BIC hit the headlines recently with their pink and purple ‘For her’ range of pens, ‘designed to fit comfortably in a woman’s hand’. Hundreds of women wrote spoof reviews on a major online store, such as how happy they are to be able to draw fairies and unicorns at last! Meanwhile, the men complained that the pens were too delicate for their bulky hands. The reviews went viral, news publications reported on the phenomenon, and sales seem to be up (when we checked, the pens were in the top-selling office products).

Tempting though it is to claim our Deep Cleansing Therapy Bar gives men special powers, the truth is compelling enough. It’s the best natural soap you can buy!

Best soap for men

Let’s be honest. Men may have even more need to deal with rough, dry skin than women, but they don’t have so many skincare products to choose from. So, which is the best?

We recommend our handmade soap that’s specially designed for dry skin. Note that it’s in the form of a manly, disc-shaped block with no fancy fragrance or artificial colours (so it won’t look too girly in your bathroom).

Here’s the science bit

Our dry skin soap is handmade from natural oils, waxes and Zander – a unique ingredient that detoxifies and heals the skin.

The bar is deeply moisturising, because – being cold processed – it retains all the glycerine that’s extracted from other soaps during manufacture, even so-called dry skin soaps.

Being 100% natural, there’s no risk of irritation. It’s free of chemicals, parabens and steroids, and it’s not tested on animals.

We think it’s the best natural soap you can buy. In fact, it’s so effective at cleansing and curing skin conditions that you might have to let the women and children in your life use it too.

Here’s what two guys said about our best natural soap

“I’ve been using the deep cleansing therapy bar for a few weeks now. Makes your skin feel really soft and refreshed, not dry at all.”
Darren Robertson

“I have found the Therapy Bar produces an ideal shaving lather. I have a bar in an old shaving bowl and using a shaving brush a wonderrful full lather is produced. This provides an ideal medium for shaving and leaves the skin feeling clean and refreshed. No more gels or aerosol foams for me”.
John Carter

They are are real reviews. But back to the subject of spoofs, you might enjoy the reviews of a certain hair removal product for men (warning – they contain rude words!). You’ll find them on the same online store as the BIC ‘For Her’ pens.

Facial scrub: Gentle and natural exfoliant

Best facial scrubWhat is exfoliation?
Exfoliation is the practice of removing dead skin cells from the skin surface. Every facial you have at a spa or at home includes exfoliation. Even Ancient Egyptians used to exfoliate! Exfoliation helps to unclog pores, keep skin clean, reduce acne and expose hair follicles for an easier shave (note that razors exfoliate by scraping off skin cells while wet shaving).

So what’s the best way to exfoliate? We recommend a natural facial scrub.

How to exfoliate

Pumice (volcanic rock) has long been recommended for exfoliating feet, while crushed pumice, almond shells and similar hard components are often used in facial scrubs.

By contrast, we think the best facial scrub is gentle and natural. Here’s what we suggest you do:

Just wash your face with our deep cleansing therapy bar, leaving the rich lather to soak in overnight.

Use it daily, and you’ll achieve rejuvenated skin within just two weeks.

How easy is that?!

As well as penetrating into your skin to extract toxins and enrich it with vitamins and minerals, this gentle alternative to a facial scrub has a smoothing, moisturising and exfoliating effect.

With our natural facial scrub there’s no need for scrubbing, harsh chemical peels or expensive dermabrasion techniques that destroy the top skin layer leaving it red and raw underneath.

What’s in our natural facial scrub

Our facial scrub is a handmade cold-processed bar that contains Zander, olive oil, castor oil, coconut oil, turmeric, beeswax and rainwater. All very good and natural, but what’s Zander, we hear you ask! It’s a rare lake sediment (like a mud pack) that has the ability to ‘hook’ toxins out of your skin while hydrating it. All these wonderful natural ingredients mean there is no risk of irritation. Just to be sure, we’ve had it clinically tested and proven (without any testing on animals).

By the way, you might be wondering about the expression ‘cold-processed’. That simply means the bar is made without heat, so it retains all the moisturising glycerine that is missing from normal soaps (and is why they have a drying effect on your skin).

We think you’ll find it’s the best facial scrub you’ve ever tried! Note that your face has the most sensitive skin, but you can use our deep cleansing therapy bar to exfoliate your whole body, so your skin is healthier all over.

How to prevent eczema flare up

Prevent Eczema Flare upIf you suffer from eczema you can experience a flare up for all sorts of reasons, and sometimes seemingly for no reason at all.

The cause of eczema can be genetic (children with parents who have eczema are more likely to have it too), while flare ups can be triggered by pollution, allergies, diet, soap and bubble bath, washing powders and fabric conditioners, pets, and of course, stress.

Flare ups can last for days or weeks and may leave you with the appearance and soreness of dry, flakey, red, itchy, inflamed, blistering, scaly, infected and/or weepy skin. No-one wants that, here’s a few eczema prevention tips:

Eczema prevention tips

Whatever the cause of your eczema flare ups, there’s only one main treatment, and that is to moisturise your skin regularly so it doesn’t become dry.

Sadly, there’s no cure for eczema but you can control the symptoms with our natural emollient eczema cream, available in a choice of two sizes according to your budget. You could also try wearing loose cotton clothes, and always remember – no scratching!

Eczema prevention

Prevent eczema with our natural emollient eczema cream. It’s non-greasy and fast to absorb, so you won’t have to stand there for ages waiting for it to soak in.

It’s clinically proven to be non-irritant, because the ingredients are all natural. The main components are Argan oil* for vitamin E plus double quantities of Zander to remove toxins and impurities and add vitamins that promote skin regeneration.

Our emollient cream for eczema prevention can be used on any part of your body and is safe for all the family, partly because of what’s NOT in it:

  • No steroids
  • No chemicals
  • No parabens
  • No petroleum
  • No artificial colours
  • No alcohol

All these can cause irritation (that’s why we don’t include them in any of our products). What’s more, it’s not saponified and not tested on animals.

You’ll find our Natural Emollient Cream for Eczema leaves your skin rehydrated, soothed, soft, moisturised and healthy, and so helps to prevent eczema flare up. What more could any eczema-sufferer want?!

*As Argan is extracted from nuts, in extremely rare cases it can cause an adverse reaction. If this happens to you, please stop using the cream and contact us immediately.

Surfers feet: Don’t suffer surfers foot; prevent it!

Surfers FootCalling all surfers:
Have you ever had sore, peeling feet after surfing? Some surfers have reported a reaction that makes the soles of their feet go red, itchy and peeling, so walking becomes painful and surfing impossible. We can’t have that!

It’s possible that some surfers are allergic to their neoprene booties, or maybe have athlete’s foot or dermatitis. Do you want to go barefoot surfing in cold water, keep trying new booties or restrict your surfing to somewhere tropical? Probably not.

Whatever the cause of the problem, the best long-term remedy is to moisturise your feet daily with natural products that will heal and protect the skin and help prevent surfers foot.

How to prevent surfers foot

Here’s a tried-and-tested régime to help prevent surfers foot.

  • Once a day, wash your feet with our deep cleansing therapy bar (use pre-boiled water if you live in a hard water area). Simply rub the rich lather into your feet. Don’t rinse it off, just let it dry for at least 30 minutes or ideally overnight.
  • Every morning and night, and whenever you want to throughout the day, apply our hydrating therapy balm and/or ultra-sensitive therapy cream.

Note that it’s not just for surfers feet. You can also use this process to protect your skin and help avoid rashes all over your body.

How it works

The foundation of our products is known as Zander. It’s a 6,000-year-old sediment formed from reeds that once grew on the edges of certain North Eastern European lakes. The particular conditions and minimal oxygen levels there means all the vitamins and minerals are retained rather than leached away or rotted down.

Blended with other natural ingredients, the Zander can soak into the skin to repair and maintain it. Its healing properties restore the damaged skin on your feet and strengthen its protective barrier for the future.

Note that this treatment for surfers foot is 100% natural; there are no chemicals and all our products are clinically proven to be non-irritant.

Riding the Waves, Living the Dream

There’s only one place a surfers feet should be – on the board, riding the waves! So don’t let anything stop you.

How to Remove Toxins from the Skin

Syrinx Za Natural Skin CareToxins enter our body from many sources. Orally in the food we eat, form environmental airborne attack and also from substances we touch and wear such as jewellery and watches.

Whilst a high-fibre diet and drinking 2 litres of water per day will help your body to rid its self of toxins in your system, you may need a little help to withdraw these toxins from the skin to help avoid dermatological issues such eczema flare-ups.

Zander: Skin Toxin Removal Properties

Zander is a unique substance which forms over many thousands of years in an oxygen-free environment which means that it contains many substances which formed the parent plants from which it is extracted. These substances have great benefit to human (and animal) skin.

Humic substances, simply put, have the unique ability to “grab” impurities from the skin in a process called “chelation” – this process deeply cleans the skin which is particularly helpful in people whom are prone to Atopic Skin diseases such as eczema or other dermatological issues.

Importantly, Zander is the key ingredient in our products which has an unparalleled ability to retain moisture and hydrate the skin. Lipids, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, humic and fulvic acids also boost resistance to skin disease whilst working to make the skin soft, smooth and healthier than ever before.

Our Skin Toxin Removal regime begins with the Deep Cleansing Therapy Bar and can be followed up with our creams, balms and skin moisturiser’s dependant on your personal skin care needs.
