Natural Skincare Products Stocked from Natures Larder

No More Skin Allergy with NelsonFood fuels our lives, but do we contemplate where it actually comes from?
Food producers use a multitude of processes that mess with Mother Nature’s larder and our food often passes through many hands before it reaches our plates. So even if we do contemplate what’s on our plate, it’s often difficult to have a truly natural diet with no additives or “un-natural” ingredients because we simply do not have enough control.

Whilst at home my wife and I try to eat naturally, using organic produce where possible. But if you’ve ever tried to stick to an organic diet you’ll know how expensive this can be, and when travelling as we are now it’s literally impossible to eat healthily without starving or living on fresh fruit.

Natural Skin Care Products

I for one am thankful that choosing natural skincare products is a great deal easier than selecting natural foods. As a skin allergy sufferer I can be sure that the Syrinx Za skincare products I use are stocked from nature’s larder because I am involved in the research and testing of all our products.

Everyone deserves more of the good stuff that nature has to offer and you can be as sure as me that we don’t use chemical stabilisers or un-natural products in Syrinx Za products. For many years I suffered from what I call “dog-skin”, a severe reaction to dogs and cats which manifested on the skin on my face and was very sore (understatement) whenever I petted a dog, cat or hairy animal.

Nelson and MickNo problem Nelson
We are currently in Perth, Western Australia staying with my brother-in-law who has one very playful dog and three very energetic cats, one of which is named Nelson who has taken a real shine to me! In the past all four of these family pets would set off my rash. But not today… Natures Larder provides Syrinx Za with the natural ingredients needed to formulate our products and keep my dog and cat skin at bay…

No Problem Nelson… Bring it on….

Winter Skin Care

Winter Skin CareA little help from your friends at Syrinx Za
I was reminded this week how my skin reacts poorly to extremes of temperature. Saturday 8th of December I’m applying my Moisturising Therapy Balm to my face and fore head following the chill wind and central heating in the UK. Then, Tuesday 11th December I’m using my Hydrating Therapy Balm to calm my sun-burned forehead and shoulders.

We’re on holiday in Perth Western Australia, but I am sparing a thought for my freezing friends at home in the UK.

Winter Face Moisturising

Whilst the hat, scarf and winter woollies will keep out the chill, they’ll not stop our skin from drying out and possibly cracking following exposure to the cold and home heating. In this case the best form of skin defence is offence with our Moisturising Therapy Balm.

Our Moisturising Therapy Balm is the perfect defence against the biting cold winter weather, it’s a thick, luxurious creamy balm that absorbs and moisturises deeply. Apply following your morning shower for all day defence against winter elements.

Winter Body moisturising

Under the layers of clothing we’re more protected so a lighter, faster absorbing skin moisturising cream is more suitable, we recommend our Ultra-Sensitive Therapy cream for a luxurious long lasting body moisturiser.

20% Christmas Discount Code off all products

During December all customers, new and old can enjoy a 20% discount off all purchases – simply enter the following discount code at the checkout: XMAS2012

Acne Treatment

Soap for Teenage AcneAcne is one of those conditions that teenagers fret about because it impacts their self-esteem and interferes rudely with their prime teenage years.

Unfortunately there is no magic cure for Acne, so science cannot eliminate it, but we have an Acne Treatment which will help reduce the visible symptoms by reducing the swelling and redness associated with Acne and we achieve this with a product which contains only pure natural ingredients so as not to aggravate the condition further.

Our Acne Treatment involves nothing more than regular face-washing with our natural “Deep Cleansing Therapy Bar” essentially the Therapy Bar looks like and acts like a bar of soap, the difference is that it deeply cleanses the skin and helps to normalise Acne affected skin.

Four Step Acne Treatment

Step 1. Dampen the skin on the face with luke-warm water.

Step 2. Immerse your hands and the soap into luke-warm water. Work the soap in the hands until it Produces a rich creamy lather.

Step 3. Firmly wash the face, working the lather into the skin, work the soap for around 30 second and then rinse all of the lather from the face.

Step 4. Repeat the above – this time leave the lather on the face, use a towel to pad the face to avoid the lather dripping over the bathroom floor.

Essentially in step 4 we want the lather to stay on the skin, the soap contains Sapropel and this ingredient improves the skins own immune system and will continue to work against the Acne. I know it seems “alien” to leave soap on the skin, but please remember that whilst the Deep Cleansing Therapy Bar looks like a bar of soap – it’s not actually soap, it’s a natural skin therapy bar.

Although completely harmless try not to get the lather in the eyes as it will sting mildly.

You think you’ve Got Acne Bad !!

Imagine having teenage Acne and Shaving Rash… Ouch.. Here is what one young customer said

“I started using Syrinx Za soap about 6 months ago when I was 17. I have been shaving for a couple of years now and the combination of shaving rash and teenage skin is never a good one. My mum asked me to give this new soap a go and the results are brilliant. Now when I shave, no shaving rash!”

Heart Warming Testimonial about a Child Suffering from Eczema

Image of child with eczema washing handsEczema afflicts people of all ages; it can sneak up on you later in life or pounce on you at birth. We adults cope with what nature throws at us because we just have to get on with life but it’s more difficult for children suffering with eczema because they obviously can’t fend for themselves.

Spare a thought though for the parents of children who suffer for eczema, who suffer equally, if not more, from the stress and sometimes miss-placed guilt that their child is suffering from this often quite nasty skin disorder.

Heart Warming Customer Feedback

As a skin care product manufacturing company we strive to provide natural, chemical free products suitable for people of all ages from birth to old age. Whilst we receive lots of positive feedback for our products from people suffering from eczema and other skin disorders we are particularly proud of the following testimonial which makes our work meaningful and worthwhile.

My two year old daughter has suffered with severe eczema for the last 8 months, leaving her raw, sore and very, very grumpy.

We saw 4 different doctors who all suggested we use different creams and drugs, but nothing worked. At my wits end and feeling like a terrible Mother as I could not soothe my childs itchy skin, my friend recommended I try your soap. (Deep Cleansing Therapy Bar)

Within 6 weeks her skin has cleared up, the sores are gone and the itching is under control. I can’t believe the difference in my little girl, who now sleeps all night and is a happy, healthy child again.

THANK YOU !! – Rachel McKenna

We were overjoyed to receive such credible feedback because no amount of product testing and clinical trials can make up for real-world feedback from a concerned parent and happy client.

Thank you Rachel for reaching out and sharing your story. We welcome comments and questions from all parents with children suffering with eczema. Rachel used our Deep Cleansing Therapy Bar to cleanse her babies skin.

Adults with eczema or parents with babies, infants or children suffering with eczema may wish to try our Eczema Cleanser and Emollient Cream Combination to reduce inflammation and itching and to normalise eczema affected skin.

Oily skin | Q & A | Oily skin Treatment and Care

Deep Cleansing Therapy BarWhat are the common symptoms of oily skin?
Oily skin may be sallow in appearance, thick and heavy in texture, and is prone to break out in spots, blemishes and pimples. You may also notice visible pores, clogged pores, blackheads and a build-up of dead cells on the skin surface.

However, it’s not all bad news, as oily skin helps keep moisture locked in and so is less likely to get wrinkled in later life.

What causes oily skin?

All skin contains sebaceous glands that produce sebum, which is the skin’s natural lubricant. The problem of oily skin occurs when these glands become over-active and produce too much sebum that ends up on the skin surface.

Who gets oily skin?

Anyone can suffer from oily skin at any time, however, some races and age groups seem to experience oily skin more than others.

Can oily skin be cured or treated?

The aim of treating oily skin is to remove the excess sebum, and there are many cures on the market. We recommend a totally natural treatment that doesn’t contain chemicals to aggravate the skin.

What is the best cure for oily skin?

While we mostly mention how well our Deep Cleansing Therapy Bar works on dry skin, it’s equally effective on oily skin. That’s because – although it looks like a soap and acts like a soap – it’s not actually a soap. It combines natural ingredients in a cold process to cleanse, draw out impurities and protect skin of all types. Just add water to work the bar into a gentle lather and let it soak in (without rinsing). It only takes a couple of weeks to see results.

What people say about our oily skin soap

“After the first time using it my skin instantly felt less oily. I have been using it for 3 weeks, twice a day. After each use my skin feels oil free, smoother and less irritated.”
Sallyanne Turner

“This is my second week of using the soap, mainly on my face and I love it! My skin feels clean when I have used it and my skin is definitely clearer. I had a couple of stubborn whiteheads which have been there for months and months. They have now gone!”
Kim Smith

“My mother’s always told me never to use soap on my face, but I couldn’t be happier with it. I’ve found myself with fewer spots and my skin feels softer and clearer.”
Jessica Hartage

Skin tags| Q & A | Skin tags Treatment and Care

Image of Skin Tags on the NeckWhat are skin tags?
Skin tags are small growths of skin, usually the same colour as the surrounding skin. Who gets skin tags? Skin tags tend to affect pregnant women and overweight people in middle-age.

What causes skin tags? Skin tags seem to appear in areas of the body where there is friction, perhaps in the groin area due to wearing too-tight jeans or under the breasts thanks to a scratchy underwired bra.

Are skin tags dangerous?

If you have skin tags, you might find them unsightly and embarrassing or they may catch on your clothing and cause irritation. However, most skin tags are completely harmless, but if you get a skin tag that bleeds or is a different colour, you should consult your GP.

Can skin tags be cured or treated?

Some small skin tags go black and drop off of their own accord. Other skin tags have their own blood supply and nerve endings, and once they’ve appeared, seem set to stay forever.

The NHS used to remove skin tags at no charge, but now it is considered a cosmetic procedure and you will have to pay to get them removed. This is done by snipping them off, usually under a local anaesthetic, and of course you end up with a scar where the skin tag grew.

Other treatments you may hear of include medicines, steroids and even knotting dental floss around the skin tag to stop the blood flow. (We do not recommend this).

However, there is an alternative that doesn’t include minor surgery or drugs.

What is the best cure for skin tags?

Our natural treatment for skin tags has the effect of healing and strengthening the skin, so skin tags reduce in size and eventually disappear altogether.

  1. Use our deep cleansing therapy bar every morning and night. Add warm water and scrub it gently into the skin tag and surrounding area. Do not wash off the lather; just let it soak in for at least 30 minutes or overnight if possible.
  2. Apply our hydrating therapy balm at intervals throughout the day

Customers tell us they start to see results on their skin tags within the first month. Before you turn to drastic measures, it may be worth reading our page on Skin Tags and possibly trying the natural products listed on that page. If you use any of our products, please let us know how you get on in the comments below.

Dermatitis Treatment | Q and A | Dermatitis Care

Image depicting treatments for dermatitisWhat is dermatitis?
Dermatitis is an inflammation of the skin (derma = skin, itis = inflammation). Often classified alongside eczema, some people define dermatitis as the acute condition, and eczema as the chronic condition.

There are two main types of dermatitis:

  1. Atopic dermatitis (flares up all over the skin; often inherited; common in children and teenagers)
  2. Contact dermatitis (flares up where irritants or allergens come into contact with sensitive skin)

Other types of dermatitis include:

  • Dermatitis herpetiformis (linked with coeliac disease / gluten intolerance)
  • Seborrheic dermatitis (common in infants and those aged 30-70)
  • Nummular dermatitis (rare; no known cause; affects middle-aged people)
  • Statis dermatitis (affects the lower legs of people with varicose veins)
  • Perioral dermatitis (affects women aged 20-60)
  • Infective dermatitis (occurs secondary to a skin infection)

What causes dermatitis?

Triggers for dermatitis vary from one person to the next, but the most common causes include natural and chemical irritants such as dust, cigarette smoke, dry air, solvents, hydrocarbons and sweat.

What are the symptoms of dermatitis?

Dermatitis skin will have red burning patches or blisters that feel stinging, sore and itchy. The condition is often worse at night.

Can dermatitis be cured?

No. The only cure is to avoid the trigger, but there are some treatments that relieve the symptoms.

Can dermatitis be treated?

Yes. Doctors will prescribe steroid ointments, creams or lotions that reduce inflammation but can irritate and even thin sensitive skin. Long-term, steroids can even make dermatitis worse. We recommend a natural treatment regime.

Natural treatment for dermatitis

Here’s our three-stage treatment for dermatitis:

  1. Use our Deep Cleansing Therapy Bar for its deep cleansing effect
  2. Apply our Ultra-sensitive Therapy Cream for 24-hour hydration
  3. Add our Moisturising Therapy Balm for extra protection, especially outdoors

This treatment regime has been clinically proven to be non-irritant, and users report results within just a fortnight.

The reason why our products achieve such results are due to these key ingredients mixed with other natural components:

  • Zander: 6,000-year old sediment from North European lakes that heals and repairs skin
  • Argan: Moroccan nut oil with soothing and moisturising qualities
  • Tea tree oil: protects sensitive skin

If you suffer from dermatitis, please read our Dermatitis page, and use the comments section below if you have any questions.

Cracked Feet | Q & A | Cracked Foot Care

Natural Moisturising Treatment for Cracked Feet and HeelsWhat are cracked feet?
You may find your feet dry and crack, especially in the summer months when you wear sandals or walk around barefoot. The danger is that cracked feet may bleed and become infected.

What are the common symptoms of cracked feet?
You’ll notice a build-up of hard, dry skin, mainly on the heels, but possibly also on the balls of your feet, outsides of your big toes, and anywhere that shoes and boots may rub.

Who gets cracked feet?

Anyone can get dry cracked feet, but it’s more common as you get older, as aging skin contains less moisture and oil.

Can cracked feet be cured or treated?

There are a number of over-the-counter chemical treatments for cracked feet, such as those containing synthetic ‘uric acid’. Many of these leave your feet dangerously greasy.

Many people scrape their dry cracked feet with a pumice stone – a scratchy bit of volcanic rock – or a raspy ‘cheese-grater’ foot file, but these can leave the skin feeling rough and looking no better.

What is the best cure for cracked feet?

To help with cracked feet, you should moisturise them every day, avoid footwear with open or high heels, treat yourself to an occasional pedicure, and drink at least 8 pints of water daily.

The best moisturiser for cracked feet is 100% natural and highly absorbent, with no steroids, parabens or chemicals. Our Hydrating Therapy Balm uniquely contains Zander, an ancient lake sediment with the ability to penetrate and nourish the skin. Rather than dead skin peeling off to reveal new skin underneath, it plumps up and softens the ‘dead’ skin, bringing it back to life.

What results can be achieved for cracked feet?

9/10 of our testers experienced a visible improvement in just two weeks.

Stella says:
“I started using your balm in July and since then the problem has disappeared! I can now take long walks on a regular basis in any kind of footwear.”

Jacky says:
“Within a couple of weeks the hard skin is disappearing and my feet are looking baby-new again.”

Rachel says:
“It has completely softened my feet and new skin seems to have grown. Nothing I have ever used has done this.”

Read more about our Cracked Foot Cream here and if you have cracked foot please tell us how you cope with it in the comments below. If you leave an email address with your comment we’ll email you a 20% discount code for your trouble.
